Duplication is not penalized

Last week I published a post about www.bustablog.com. One of my readers commented that they were worried and wondering about Google penalizing blogs for duplicate content if the blog owner used www.bustablog.com.
I decided to contact support at www.bustablog.com and see what they had to say about this. Here is their reply:
Keith,
Duplication is not penalized, Google uses its algorithm to determine the original article, which is of course your article. We syndicate our own blogs and have had no problem with Google.
Often users mainly have the benefit of having their articles displayed in our index. In the future we plan to add a related posts feature so that users can browse between blogs more easily.

For the time being their answer settles the question for me. Many blogs are syndicated through the services of www.bustablog.com and other syndication services. As far as I know this is one of the best ways to get traffic to those blogs.

I would have to agree with that response, Google tends to find the original article, by syndicating it seems like you would definately benefit more then not. I just recently syndicated my blog at http://www.bustablog.com. thanks for the advice. nice article!
